I am completely happy to announce that Geoff Keighley, the super intelligent creator of The Game Awards, will once again help us with our New York Game Awards on 1/22/19! Ours is a more local event, so we’re excited that Geoff will come by the theatre to lend a hand.
Geoff and I go way back. We met when we were both writing for Entertainment Weekly magazine. That’s a long time ago – about 20 years now – and we’ve become great friends. It’s a fact that people don’t always last long in this industry, so those that do like to stick together.
For our New York Game Awards Pre-Show, which will be streamed on Twitch, Geoff has kindly agreed to talk with our high school interns about the work the New York Videogame Critics Circle does as a non-profit organization in their schools. We’re very proud of what we’ve done in the community. But we want to do more, too.
Geoff will also talk with Kimari Rennis, our 16 year old senior intern from the DreamYard Prep School. He’ll talk with one other intern to be named as well.
Geoff receives no pay for his time. He’s doing it just because he likes the way the New York Videogame Critics Circle is trying to give back as a non-profit group. One thing is clear – Geoff really has a good heart.
Say hello to Geoff – and to all of us – at the New York Game Awards! See you soon, on Tuesday!
