I am completely thrilled to announce that Geoff Keighley, longtime journalist, TV personality and the creator of The Game Awards, will be helping out with our New York Game Awards on 1/24/18! Ours is a more indie event, more local, but we’re super glad to have Geoff lend a hand.
Geoff and I have known each other for around 20 years – during our Entertainment Weekly days. In other words, we go way back. A few years ago, I helped Geoff write words for the introductory video to his first Game Awards. But even before that, we’d been good friends. People don’t last super long in this industry, so those that do like to stick together.
For our New York Game Awards Pre-Show which will be streamed on Twitch, Geoff has kindly agreed to talk with me about the work the New York Videogame Critics Circle does as a non-profit organization. We’re very proud of what we’ve done in the community. But we want to do more, too.
Geoff will also talk with Kimari Rennis, our awesome, 15 year old writer/intern from the DreamYard Prep School.
We’re not paying Geoff for doing this. He’s doing it just because he likes how the New York Videogame Critics Circle is trying to give back as a non-profit group. And for that, Geoff rocks!
Say hello to Geoff – and to all of us – at the New York Game Awards! See you soon!
