We are completely thrilled to announce that Maddie Rice from Stay Human and the Late Show With Stephen Colbert will appear at the New York Game Awards to play a selection of songs nominated for the Tin Pan Alley Award for Best Music in a Game. She’ll also perform one of her original songs.

Maddie Rice is a New York City guitarist, singer and songwriter. She honed her skills at the Berklee College of Music and toured the world with bands such as Brooklyn’s Rubblebucket (art-rock) and Seoul’s Taeyang (K-Pop), and now plays in the house band on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. These days, when she’s not on set at the Late Show, she is preparing original music for her debut solo EP, which she plans to release later this year.

On a personal note as a former music critic, I check social media and websites often to discover the best in new music. Before Maddie was the guitarist on Colbert, I found stirring videos of her work on YouTube – like this:

It’s the kind of searing guitar solo you remember as it swirls around in your head long after the video is complete. And Maddie’s only gotten better since this was recorded.

So please join the New York Videogame Critics Circle in welcoming Maddie Rice to the New York Game Awards on 1/22/19. Tickets are available now!
