The New York Game Awards is stoked to offer you the worldwide premiere of a new Octogeddon trailer. Just as cool, it will presented by Plants Vs. Zombies creator George Fan, in person. We’re honored to say that George will be briefly interviewed onstage by Devin Delliquanti, our awesome host from The Daily Show With Trevor Noah.
When George Fan and PopCap released Plants Vs. Zombies in 2009, it changed the game world for the better. PvZ could be at once humorous, maddening, strategic, intelligent, and a zen experience. At my gig at Boys’ Life, the magazine of the Boys Scouts, PvZ became one of the games about which I received the most mail. There was talk of Plants vs. Zombies books and movies. At conventions, I would see their giant, goofy zombie mascot and watch journalists and fans alike line up for photos.
If George Fan is involved, Octogeddon will likely be be a rich, enjoyable experience as well. In the game, you’ll be dealing with a crazed, angry, fearsome, vitriolic yet funny giant octopus as he embarks upon his snaggled-toothed, wreckless rampage. Fan’s brought along PvZ artist extraordinaire Rich Werner to the new development studio, All Yes Good. In fact, Werner was recently interviewed by Kimari Rennis, our New York Videogame Critics Circle 15 year old intern from the Bronx’s Dreamyard Prep School.
All of our critics invite you to come out to the New York Game Awards next Wednesday, 1/24. Witness the brand, new Octogeddon trailer as part of a terrific awards show. And then say ‘hey’ to the legendary George Fan during our After Party with Skyy Vodka. We still have a few tickets left!
