Happy 15th to the New York Game Awards!

We at the Circle are elated to welcome Mega Ran back for another musical performance, as his work is always magnificent, especially when it comes to video game music. As a Teacher, Rapper, and Artist, a memory that comes to mind when thinking of Mega Ran’s many masterpieces is his showcase from last year’s show, the 14th Awards.

He struts onto the stage in a blazer decorated in Tetris blocks, at first hyping the crowd up in a classic birthday party fashion before slipping straight into a routine inspired by Final Fantasy 7’s Barret Wallace. The crowd responds in kind, pumping their fists in response to the invigorating music before rocking in their seats as he transitions into an original love song titled “Tractor Beam.” His set list continues through the hits, switching next into a very quick snippet of his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s song, harkening back to his personal favorite from the previous year TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge.

Last but certainly not least is his Sam Lake tribute, where everyone in the crowd takes a stand, and makes some noise for the 14th Legend Award winner. The song’s slow and jazzy nature embodied Sam Lake’s energy, sly and cool while still being enough to fill a room with energy no matter the size.

The song’s main chorus, “This one’s for the creators.” embodies the soul of what we at the Circle try to do with every effort, empower the creators out there in the industry.

Mega Ran is set to perform once again at the 15th Annual NY Game Awards and has crafted a brand-new original to showcase the Circle’s first 15 years of existence. We’re absolutely charged to see what he brings to the stage, and hope you’ll be there to see it live with us at SVA Theatre!
