Happy 15th to the Annual New York Game Awards! We’re currently prepping everything we can for this event to be the biggest and brightest!
As we inch closer and closer to the date of our first two-day Awards event, it’s hard not to look back on the days of the Pandemic once again. It was hard doing the work that we do from behind distant screens and computer cams and occasionally in-person with masks. But somehow, we managed to pull through and make the most of the free time everyone had.
One of the many things the Circle had created was the Talking Games with Reggie and Harold podcast, where our Founder Harold Goldberg and Nintendo Legend Reggie Fils-Aimé spoke on their starts in the industry and what it took to get to where they are now. Both bring impactful stories of their trials and tribulations, reflecting on what they’ve experienced and leaving lovely tidbits for those who would seek to follow in their footsteps.
Another inclusion in this first episode was a partnership with Henry Love from Gateway Housing. Originally headed by Circle Board Chair Ted Houghton, Gateway Housing’s main goals were to improve the quality of life of teens and young adults within the shelter system, and supporting their mental health, as it can be a very rough experience for anyone. This is done through various methods of engaging kids in newer outlets, such as writing and gaming thanks to the Circle’s nonprofit efforts, to help pull their minds away from the stressful situations they might face.
Even when separated from the people we’re trying to aid, we at the Circle have always given back in the best way we can to reach out and help the communities around this beautiful city. The end of 2025 is fast approaching, and 2026 is as unpredictable as ever, but this statement still holds true. We’re doing our best to maintain what we’ve established. But we’re always open to, and forever grateful for, donations from those who seek to support our cause.
Without our donors, none of this would be possible.
