Community Event: NYVGCC Shined At The Excellent Henry Street Settlement This Weekend!

By Harold Goldberg

This past Saturday, hundreds attended our awesome NYVGCC booth in tandem with the Henry Street Settlement’s super convivial community event. At Sol Lain Park, we gave away everything from stickers to a brand new iPad.

Hundreds stopped by our booth during the day to learn about our Playing With Purpose programs and to play Nintendo games. (The Switch is the most easily portable system, so that’s why we chose it.) Thanks to Debbie at Henry Street for the excellent booth and generator, and our mentor Isaac Espinosa, who’s so great with kids!

There was a line at our booth all day long! All photos by Harold Goldberg
Isaac introduced these two young people to video games. They had never played games before and they did very well on Mario Kart.
People signed up throughout the day for our iPad giveaway.
Playing Smash!
Parents and their kids play together well.
Choosing a kart is all strategy.
No one wanted the Vader sticker. Hundreds were given out before someone chose Darth.
World famous Double Dutch jumpers from the Lower East Side were given deserving accolades from the city and state.
Double Dutch today is going strong!
