The NY Videogame Critics Circle is excited to announce that Circle Board member Sherri L. Smith will be one of our New York Game Awards co-hosts on 1/23/24. Sherri will join Reggie and Harold onstage at SVA Theatre next Tuesday night at 8 pm for her co-hosting duties.

Sherri has been a valued core Critics Circle member for nearly a decade and, last year, was voted in as one of our nonprofit’s Board members. Sherri’s accolades are many, and she is the first woman of color in the U.S. to run a tech publication: She’s editor in chief of Laptop Magazine.

Sherri also has more energy than most of our other Circle members. Not only is Sherri on our Board, she has mentored our underserved and unhoused students in the Bronx, Lower East Side and Brooklyn.

Giving back is in her blood. It’s not just occasional mentoring for Sherri. This seasoned editor has been lead mentor for our 10-week, after school Playing with Purpose journalism and games classes, like the one she’s teaching now at Brooklyn’s Andres Hudde School.
