Today, I received an email from the great MC Frontalot. In it, MC Frontalot confirmed that he’ll perform for the 2nd Annual New York Videogame Critics Circle Awards on February 5, 2013.

I’ve only met the nerdcore rap master once – at a landmark, packed Lev Grossman reading of The Magician in Brooklyn. Man, was I impressed.

There, Damian performed “It Is Pitch Dark” to a rapt crowd. It’s true that some of Lev’s fans had no idea what was happening. It was their first exposure to the humor and magic of Frontalot. They may have appeared bemused for, say, 30 seconds. But then, they cracked ironic smiles. Many began to laugh and nod and bop and bob. The whole place was energized.

I know that’s going to happen at the Circle Awards – in spades. I’m proud to announce the participation of MC Frontalot at our awards show. It’s going to be thrilling.
