The New York Videogame Critics Circle is a multicultural non-profit organization of 40 journalists and we want to give back to the community.

We work with The DreamYard Prep School in the Bronx to offer mentoring, internships, lectures, job information and college scholarships to intelligent but underprivileged students. The DreamYard Project has been lauded by the Obama White House and has been featured in The New Yorker magazine.

We also work with The Abrons Arts Center, part of the Henry Street Settlement. There, we hold our yearly New York Game Awards, teach courses and bring games and our info table to community events. There’s just nothing like the Abrons Arts Center on the Lower East Side.

We also mentor at O.A.T.S., Older Adult Technology Services, at their tech center in Chelsea. We are trying to understand whether seniors’ minds can be helped by games, not shooters, but deeper experiences. Hence, we’re working with Tracy Fullerton’s wondrous Walden.

Soon, we will offer our scholarships and community outreach to other schools in New York City.
